Trained at Oxford, Stanford, and UPenn, I am a Digital Humanities researcher and academic leader with two decades of experience in higher education leadership. I serve as Founding Chair of the Board of Humanities and Head of the Department of Humanities & Social Sciences at Nirma University. As a visionary leader in the humanities, I believe India urgently needs to revamp humanities education, making it relevant, employable, and globally competitive. My mission is to demonstrate that the humanities are not optional in STEM institutions, but rather the driving force behind critical thinking, ethical reflection, creativity, and social responsibility. My impact so far: -Redesigned the humanities curriculum for 4,000+ engineering students, embedding NEP 2020, OBE, and 100+ credits of interdisciplinary courses that prepare students for both jobs and citizenship. -Steered successful accreditation and NIRF ranking processes, aligning national priorities with bold educational innovation. -Led 26 faculty members and managed 800+ teaching hours yearly, balancing compliance, creativity, and vision. -Secured major research grants and launched Digital Humanities projects on culture, memories, intangible and tangible heritage, gender, and technology. -Honoured by Oxford University (Digital Humanities Award) and Infosys (Distinguished Facilitator) for pioneering new pedagogies. -Leading multidisciplinary research groups working on Digital Humanities projects. -TEDx speaker I thrive on curriculum innovation, faculty development, and institution building. I am driven by the conviction that India’s humanities education must move from rote to relevance and from passive learning to employable, critical, and interdisciplinary skills. And when I’m not busy with research proposals or accreditation files, you’ll find me mentoring students, lifting weights, rescuing dogs, or plotting how to sneak more humanities into engineering classrooms.
