Under the Design Research Fellowship offered by CivicDataLab I am working as an intern with the State Finance Department, Govt. of Assam exploring modalities of doing Participatory Budgeting (PB). As part of this fellowship I am working with the department to assess activities done in the previous Financial Year, mapping systems, identifying gaps and opportunities and proposing improvements using technology and other means. During my time here, in Guwahati, I am also expected to use my experience as a Product Designer to build capacities with members from the Department on aspects like Human Centered Design Thinking and Usability Testing for eGov platforms.

Primarily involved in conducting user research activities for a public finance data platform for Himachal Pradesh called the Fiscal Data Explorer being developed in collaboration with CBGA and Tech4Dev. Explored process mapping to better understand user needs of expert users of the platform like non-profits, policy wonks, media houses, etc., analysed existing platforms from a usability perspective, suggested improvements and contributed to the future roadmap for the Data Explorer.
Besides this I also wrote a paper on the proposed Section 66-A Legal Zombie Tracker being developed by CivicDataLab in collaboration with Internet Freedom Foundation. Contributed in various ways to set-up a research driven design practice at CDL.

Hopscotch.in is a leading discovery-based e-Commerce destination for Indian moms, offering a wide range of curated children’s merchandise at affordable prices. As a product designer I worked on the User Experience and Interface Design of the digital properties of the company which includes the website, mobile site and mobile applications.
Major projects I was a part of was the revamp of the website (dubbed Web 2.0) to major changes to product listing page filtering, customer care design, Hopscotch Moments (user generated content) and workflow software for internal teams (Boutique Workflow and Quality Checking). I conducted user interviews, designed service flows, envisioned the front-end CSS architecture and the UI design language tooling.
