About

My focus before retirement was the development of a viable and vibrant system and infrastructure in India for recycling automobiles at the end of life. I was heading the industry panel on the subject and had given presentations on the topic to international and prominent national forums. A paper I wrote on the subject is one of the ten papers referred to in our Prime Minsiter's "National Action Plan for Climate Change. I also give lectures to corporates and educational institutions sharing my experience and insights on various managment topics. I write books! I joined the company as President in 1989 and turned round the company from near bankruptcy to record profit in just six years. In 1996, I took over as Director (Projects) and set up an 175 crore greenfield project near Mysore in just fifteen months. From 2001, I was associated with the company as an Advisor on technology, new product development and academia interaction. I retired from TVS in May 2020 during pandemic shutdown

I joined Mukand as profit centre head of the engineering construction division. In 1985, I became the head of Mukand Foundry and in 1987, I headed the flagship Steel division and was also in charge of projects. During my time in the company, I turned round the sick engineering and foundry divisions to profit and did a major revamp of the steel plant, increasing production by 20 %. I left in 1989 for personal reasons, to head TVS Suzuki Limited in Hosur. I had a wonderful time in Mukand.

Fourndry 85-87- Turned round sick foundry facing closure to record profits on the back of a large railway order, doubing productivity and eliminating bottlenecks.
Steel Plant 87-89- Ran the flagshipsteel division to record profits. Debottlenecked the plant at low cost to increase througput by 30%. Also oversaw a project of ecting a new roughing stand on schedule and budgeted cost.
