I’ve spent most of my career watching how decisions get made. First, people flipped through catalogs. Then they typed keywords into search engines. Now, increasingly, they don’t choose at all—they delegate. I lead Agentic Commerce Consulting at Cognizant, where I help Fortune 500 brands—including organizations like Starbucks, Nestlé, and Kimberly-Clark—understand what happens when AI-driven agents begin mediating discovery, evaluation, and purchase decisions on behalf of customers. My background sits at the intersection of search, content, and digital experience. That vantage point gave me a front-row seat to a quiet but profound shift: influence is no longer earned at the moment of click—it’s earned upstream, inside systems that decide before a human ever shows up. This is what we now call agentic commerce. Over the past decade, my work has focused on helping organizations build machine-readable digital ecosystems—from structured content and technical discoverability to the signals that determine how brands appear in search engines, answer engines, and increasingly AI-driven discovery systems. Today, that work increasingly intersects with Answer Engine Optimization (AEO), Generative Engine Optimization (GEO), and agent-mediated commerce environments, where software systems—not people—make the first pass at evaluation. I work with leaders to unpack hard questions: • What changes when customers stop searching and start delegating? • How does a brand get “chosen” when software is doing the choosing? • What does relevance mean when the traditional digital shelf slowly disappears? After more than two decades in digital strategy, my focus is simple—and increasingly urgent: Helping organizations prepare for a world where decisions are made long before a website is ever visited. I write and speak about this shift because the companies that understand it early will shape the next era of digital commerce.
