Dr Robin Whytock — CEO
CEO and founder of Okala, a team of ecologists and engineers building scalable solutions for biodiversity measurement and reporting. A bit about me and the work we do: 🐦 For 20+ years, I’ve worked in biodiversity conservation across Central Africa and Europe, spanning ecological consultancy, academia, NGOs, government, and the private sector. 🎓 I hold a PhD in Ecology from the University of Stirling. 🔍 I’ve worked as a research scientist in government research institutions, non‑profits, and commercial consultancies. I founded Okala to help organisations collect biodiversity data that’s both scientifically rigorous and scalable. We use a multi‑approach method: eDNA sampling, camera traps, bioacoustic sensors, remote sensing, and field surveys. Data are centralised and processed by our AI‑powered Biodiversity Dashboard, where our expert ecologists validate AI outputs before applying state of the art statistical and geospatial models to deliver reliable insights for biodiversity reporting, impact assessments, and more. We’ve supported 50+ organisations across sectors including mining, agriculture, conservation, and government, in more than 20 countries. Our international team of 20+ works across London, Stirling, and Libreville (Gabon).
