• I am the principal investigator for several collaborative research projects on doctor-patient communications, patient and public involvement, and psycho-oncology. My present affiliation is with the Institute of Clinical Trials & Methodology, UCL. I teach in the intercalated BSc and Masters in Women's Health courses run by the UCL.

• Dr. Datta leads the psycho-oncology service in Tata Medical Center that provides psychological support for newly diagnosed patients with cancer, treats psychiatric comorbidties as depression and procedural anxiety and offers training to staff on psycho-oncology. Dr. Datta is a visiting researcher for the Institute of Psychiatry, Kings College London and also for Institute of Women Studies in University College London. Dr. Datta is the Principal Investigator for several research projects in the area of depression/body image in cancer, doctor patient relationships in oncology and has developed a communication skills course for oncology clinicians. He runs a one year psycho-oncology fellowship programme in TMC.

• Dr. Datta along with a colleague led the department of paediatric liaison psychiatry in Kings College Hospital. He was at this time involved in looking after the psychological health of medically will children and their families.

• I led a team comprising psychologists, junior doctors, nurses and other professionals who assessed and managed children, adolescents and their families when in distress. We looked after adolescents with a variety of mental health needs as depression, bipolar illness, psychosis, eating disorders and self harm.
