Set Production Assistant

Nov 2021Nov 2021 · 0 mo · New York, New York, United States

  • Set Production Assistant for the Indie Feature film “Little Brother” with renowned actors J.K Simmons and Polly Draper. The film is still in production and is set to be released in 2022.
  • Assisting the wardrobe department for this shoot taught me multiple valuable lessons regarding how every single element of a film must be perfected to create the best product possible. Moreover, this experience exemplified for me the extent to which film truly is a "collaborative art." My department collaborated with the director to ensure that the actors' wardrobe served useful narrative purposes and with the camera department to ensure that our color choices created enough contrast on the screen and fit the established color palette. I came out of this experience more convinced than ever that the best cinema is made in environments of professional friendship, where everyone prioritizes what's best for the film over blindly doing things their way.

Set Production Assistant for "Etsy" Commercial

Jul 2021Jul 2021 · 0 mo · New York, New York, United States

  • Production Assistant for large e-commerce company Etsy's commercial campaign. Assigned to the wardrobe department. I helped coordinate the returns of thousands of dollars worth of clothing and the dressing and photographing of dozens of child extras for a classroom scene. The commercial aired on NBC and streaming platforms during the Summer Olympics.
  • Through this shoot, I discovered the strength of my abilities in working with child actors, stemming from my family's background in daycare and primary education. Moreover, being my first experience with commercial film, this project helped undo my bias towards viewing commercial work as unfit for storytelling that is often instilled in film schools. It taught me that if the brand a commercial is pushing has a strong and clear identity, beautiful stories can come from commercial work. In this case, in promoting Etsy, we told the story of how creators have the ability to transform their passions into careers through direct-to-consumer e-commerce, and should not abandon what makes them happy as a result of social pressure.

"concessions" student film

Assistant Art Director

Feb 2021Feb 2021 · 0 mo · Albany, New York, United States

  • Responsibilities included assisting the Production Designer with Photoshop work and set design. Determining, listing, and acquiring needed props. Constructing the set. Working in close contact with the Script Supervisor to ensure continuity in the way we assembled the set and placed props (which was challenging as we shot in the concessions stand of an active movie theater and thus had to take down and reconstruct the set for each shoot day). The film was promoted by renowned director Kevin Smith and premiered at the Village East by Angelika movie theater in NYC in November 2021, with an introduction by Director Sean Baker.
  • Being part of a student crew that brought a film to life in 16mm and presented its work to a live audience was an incredible privilege, especially given the declining state of movie theaters and the many challenges associated with shooting on celluloid on an indie budget. With this film, which centers on two concessions stand employees in a movie theater on the verge of shutting down, we aimed to share nostalgia for the movie theater experience and to encourage our audience to keep it alive through these difficult times.

Ischia global film and music fest

Production Intern

Jun 2020Aug 2020 · 2 mos · Rome, Italy

  • Responsibilities included direct communication with large film production companies (Universal, Warner, Disney etc....) to organize the distribution of their films to the festival. Posting major updates on the festival's website and social media platforms. Screening scheduling work in collaboration with TV producer and festival organizer Pascal Vicedomini.
  • This incredibly hands-on experience immersed me fully into the professional world of festivals and distribution, and taught me many valuable lessons regarding content development and effective communication with studios. It developed in me a profound respect for the amount of coordination and manpower required to bring films to the big screen, and a deep awareness of the essential role that practical business and coordination skills play in this process. Moreover, it made me more independent as a filmmaker, giving me the skills to autonomously push my work through the distribution process, as well as detailed knowledge of the film festival selection process.

Student Representative of Undergraduate Film and TV Department

Oct 2019Dec 2020 · 1 yr 2 mos · New York, New York, United States

  • As one of the student representatives of the undergraduate film and tv department I was in charge of listening to and reporting the concerns and suggestions of the student body to the department’s Board. This entailed taking on an active role during town halls and career events and participating in bi-weekly meetings with the head of undergraduate film and tv, Ezra Sacks.
  • I consider this position to have been my most significant and defining leadership experience due to the size of the student body I was advocating for and the magnitude of the changes that we as representatives brought about. Moreover, this experience brought my communication skills to the next level as it required constant formal interaction with department heads to persuade them to take action as well as communication with my fellow students to develop the best ways of framing and presenting student-body issues.
