• I write and edit the manuscript for a forthcoming book by Professor Emmanuel Akyeampong, Faculty Director of the Center for African Studies and Professor of History and of African and African American Studies. This book is a multidisciplinary study of the first generation of African independence leaders and the craft of state-building. We draw insights from fields such as history, political science, economics and sociology to spark a new dialogue on how to analyze current African affairs. The purpose of this book is to inspire the next generation of African leaders to ignite a passion in service of their respective countries. On this project, I coordinate with a francophone research assistant in translating original works, videos, and pictures from French into English. Similarly, I conduct archival research and review of books for the manuscript.

I ensure that the over 150 students who are involved in these 8 projects can actively engage with the southside of Chicago and cultivate characteristics of leadership specifically among women and minorities. Additionally, I sit on the Student Advisory Board of the Institute of Politics.
