Founded and led SFS, a biotech startup applying computer vision to plant biology.
We built deep learning models to analyze plant phenotypes from images — automating what breeders and researchers used to do by eye. Our systems could detect stress responses, measure growth patterns, and quantify traits across thousands of plants at scale.
This work taught me two things: (1) AI can transform how we understand plants, and (2) the real leverage isn't in what you can see — it's in what you can read. The code that drives every trait, every stress response, every adaptation is written in DNA.
That insight became Living Models.
The company was founded by Cyril Véran, a specialist in biotechnology, and Dr. Thomas Janssoone, an expert in machine learning and a former researcher at INRIA.
