About

Kanika Pal, a Visiting Fellow at BIPP, ISB is an award-winning CSR and sustainability professional with over two decades of experience. Currently driving the strategy and performance of diverse impact programs at Hindustan Unilever Ltd, she also leads advocacy & thought leadership on ESG. With a master's degree in CSR from the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Thailand, and an Advanced Management in Public Policy from the Indian School of Business, Kanika's expertise spans across various industries like Apollo Tyres and Sony Pictures Networks. She has also been responsible for creating impact-led CSR programs and strategizing community relations around different factory ecosystems. At Unilever, she was instrumental in strategizing CSR around HUL factories through the flagship programme ‘Prabhat’. In a span of five years, not only did Prabhat grow five times in scale and impact under her leadership, but she also designed and implemented strong grassroots level programmes such as Prabhat Poshan Saathi, Model Eco Village and Project Mooo for dairy value chain farmers. She also set up the Sustainability Department of HUL, while driving policy advocacy work on Regenerative Agriculture and co-creating sustainable livelihood programme for youth called SAFAL. A TEDx speaker, in the past Kanika's passion for environmental change led her to establish Solutions for Clean and Healthy Environment (SoCHE) Foundation during her sabbatical from corporate life (2015–17). Through SoCHE, she championed behaviour change for a cleaner planet, notably through the innovative Nature's Jamboree school education program. This initiative empowered children to publish four books on environmental conservation, available on Amazon. Recognized globally for her impactful work, Kanika received the 'Outstanding Corporate Social Intrapreneur' award by the Schwab Foundation at the 2023 World Economic Forum in Davos. Her accolades include the 'Global Women in Leadership Award 2022', 'Asia's Top Sustainability Superwomen 2020', and distinctions like 'Most Influential Sustainability Leader' and 'Wommenovator' in 2018. She is a LEAD Fellow, Aspire Impact fellow, and a distinguished alumna of the South Asia Leaders program by Common Purpose, UK. Notably, Kanika contributes significantly towards sustainable development as a member of the Policy Leadership Council for Social Economy at the World Economic Forum, a member of the CII National CSR Committee and as a past member of the UNICEF-GenU Leaders Council Advisory group.
