• Led PayPal Commerce Platform Engineering, a global team of 750+ people responsible for expanding PayPal’s global payments acceptance across all channels (online and in-store), across all segments but focusing on large merchants, processing over half of PayPal’s transaction processed volume. My team owned the main touch points with merchant customers, and some of the products in our purview included the PayPal Commerce Platform for Enterprises (https://www.paypal.com/us/business/enterprise), PayPal Commerce Platform for Platforms and Marketplaces (https://www.paypal.com/us/business/platforms-and-marketplaces), Braintree platform (https://www.braintreepayments.com), Hyperwallet (https://www.hyperwallet.com), among others.

• Led a global team developing solutions to help merchants run their business with PayPal - from small merchants to very large enterprises. Responsibilities included business back-office experiences on PayPal.com and native mobile platforms (PayPal Business apps for iOS and Android), money management experience, account activity, reporting, insights, disputes management, among others. Co-led a technical transformation to support Enterprise customers on the PayPal platform implementing global multi-jurisdictional and multi-account management, enhanced Enterprise account controls, audit and security capabilities. Led several wide initiatives in mobile, devops and technical hiring/recruiting transformation.

• Led all Engineering at Tile from iOS and Android mobile apps to e-commerce, mobile APIs, back-end systems, data infrastructure, data science, machine learning, hardware engineering, embedded firmware development and quality assurance. Under my leadership the team shipped two products in 2016 - Tile Slim and Mate - from concept to consumer hands in about 9 months. In addition, shipped the first version of the Tile Smart Location platform, also from concept to production, allowing 3rd-party BLE-enabled products to be located using Tile technology (Tile's apps and network). Established numerous internal processes from the software development process itself (Scrum/Kanban-based) to hiring and university recruiting strategy, patent program, security, localization, among several others.

• Spearheaded development of mobile products on iOS, Android and mobile web, from apps to platforms and mobile SDKs.
• In charge of mobile search, led the development of a next-generation Yahoo Search product from ground up to its public release around mid-2015, among several other initiatives on the mobile space, including products not publicly released.
• As technical highlight, my team and I leveraged learnings from past successes and used best-in-class Engineering to migrate the Search application from a legacy, decade-old PHP codebase re-writing it in Node.js with a React single-page application, with continuous deployment, fully automated testing, with many concurrent A/B tests running live on home-grown platforms that we built to make it all possible.

• Spearheaded development of many mobile products in the areas of Search, Mail, Media (Sports, Finance) on iOS, Android, mobile web, from apps to mobile SDKs, middlewares and back-end platforms. While managing the teams I also managed to write a decent amount of code and became well-versed in both iOS and Android platforms. Given the familiarity with Java, Android was easier and I ended up spending a lot more time on iOS, which eventually made me better at it (and confident in Objective-C).
• Outside of Engineering, I co-led the entire mobile team’s Unversity Recruiting efforts in 2014, creating a process that allowed us to hire approximately 50 mobile interns and 50 mobile new college graduates, many of which I interviewed directly.

• In late 2012 became head of Engineering for Search native mobile apps for iOS and Android, as well as Yahoo! Mail, Finance and Sports for Windows 8, mobile iOS webmail and mobile APIs for all Mail mobile products. Hands-on experience with several other products and platforms/technologies over the years including Answers, Messenger, YQL and Media properties. Wrote a YQL book for O’Reilly Media/Yahoo! Press that hasn’t been published due to changes in company priorities (platform was retired).
• Before 2012 led Engineering for several desktop properties including Address Book for Yahoo! Mail, Profile, Pulse, Avatars and Meme.
• Profile was incredibly technically challenging due to its worldwide footprint and scale, and we built it with best-in-class Engineering, including it being one of Yahoo’s first properties to ever have a Jenkins-based Continuous Deployment pipeline, with the help of feature flags and an open-source BDD acceptance testing library I co-wrote with a couple colleagues.
• I also wrote most of Yahoo! Meme’s native iOS and Android applications while experimenting with Appcelerator Titanium, and wrote several innovative features for Meme’s light-blogging platform, including the Javascript floating text editor that today is used in blogging platforms like Medium and many others.

• Principal Engineer responsible for infusing Agile Engineering practices company-wide and technical leader for Globo's CMS (content management system) architecture and development using Python, Django and JQuery, which is the platform powering Globo's main websites including Sports (http://globoesporte.globo.com), News (http://g1.globo.com), Entertainment (http://etc.globo.com) and front page (http://globo.com) - the most popular Internet properties in Brazil. All of this built with Test-Driven Development, Continuous Integration and a large team collaborating across multiple sub-teams creating numerous open-source projects and/or contributions to existing ones - from acceptance testing tools to mocking libraries, database migrations for Django, among other things.

Large experience with Java stack, as well as scalability, availability and performance of web applications.

• Senior software Engineer working on highly-scalable applications development using Java stack (from Hibernate to no ORM, from Spring to manual IOC, from Struts to Velocity and Freemarker, from JBoss to Jetty, Tomcat and Weblogic, from JUnit and Selenium to JMock and EasyMock, from Jersey to “manual” REST webservices and so on), JavaScript, HTML, CSS and PHP. Built Globo’s next-generation online video and web radio web applications from ground up.
