It’s also the mindset that led me to start PinSec.Ai—a quantitative multi-asset investment management firm. We build trading strategies that maximize alpha while managing risk—from statistical arbitrage to options trading and momentum-based techniques, we leverage data science and AI to stay ahead of the curve. Here’s the story of how I got here: My fascination with numbers and markets has always been a driving force, but my journey truly began in 2018 when I stepped into investment banking. I started as an analyst at a boutique investment bank in Seattle, where I honed my skills in financial modeling and market analysis. A year later, I joined Bank of America Merrill Lynch, gaining in-depth expertise in financial structures, research, and strategic planning. During that time, I manually traded U.S. markets, relying on intuition and fundamental analysis. But witnessing Wall Street’s growing reliance on technology-driven strategies made me realize that Quantitative and AI-based trading was the future. I began exploring systematic approaches to trading, combining math, data, and machine learning to enhance decision-making. In 2020, I returned to India and expanded my focus to Indian markets. This time, I also got to manage the corporate portfolios of my family venture, FPL Group—a 35+ years business house with annual revenue exceeding INR 1,500 Cr (USD 200+ million), 1800+ employees, and 40+ operation centers across India. As the Group’s Portfolio Manager, I experimented with strategies like statistical arbitrage, momentum trading, options strategies, and mean-reversion techniques. These experiences deepened my understanding of quantitative finance and reinforced my belief in the power of systematic trading. The consistent success we achieved across market cycles inspired the creation of PinSec.Ai, with the bigger vision of building a world-class quantitative hedge fund.
