Pranay Kotasthane — Co-Founder
I am deputy director at the Takshashila Institution. I currently chair Takshashila's high-tech geopolitics programme. I teach topics in public policy, international relations, and public finance at Takshashila’s graduate and post-graduate programmes. My current research focus is semiconductor geopolitics and policy. I have published papers and articles in leading publications on this topic. My current teaching focus is public policy analysis. I co-write Anticipating the Unintended, a newsletter on public policy ideas and frameworks and I co-host Puliyabaazi, a popular Hindi-Urdu podcast on politics and policy and technology. I have co-edited India’s Marathon: Reshaping the Post-Pandemic World Order. A concept I want to popularise is societism — the idea that the society, like markets and States, has a distinct role in any human community. I started my public policy career at the Takshashila Institution in March 2014. I am an alumnus of the fifth cohort of Takshashila’s Graduate Course in Public Policy (GCPP), where I received the Gomtibai Govindji Award, conferred to the best student of a cohort. I graduated from the National Institute of Technology Karnataka, Surathkal, with a B.Tech degree in Electronics and Communication. I had stints with two Fortune 500 companies working on integrated circuit design for mobile processors after that.
