It’s not my birth name. I was born Vijayalakshmi. In 2019, my life fell apart. And in April 2020, one quiet afternoon, something shifted. I felt strong — not in a motivational way, but in a soul-deep way. Like I was being reborn. I no longer wanted the identity I had outgrown. So I created a new one — to honor who I was becoming. Since I found my strength in April, I named myself April Strong. Even though I was always a “good speaker,” I realized my life hadn’t fallen apart because of others — but because I didn’t know how to stand up for myself. I didn’t know how to ask for what I needed.
