I'm Suruchi, an independent filmmaker and cultural documentarian from Rajasthan, dedicated to bringing authentic regional narratives to contemporary audiences. My journey began with documenting the cultural diversity of Rajasthan through my folk film series, and I'm now exploring new creative directions. My latest work, "Gagan Gaman," draws from my folk documentation experience to create a mystical folk fantasy that has been gaining recognition at various festivals, including the MAMI Mumbai Film Festival 2024. I also direct music videos, non-fiction series, and narrative films. My approach to documentary filmmaking is rooted in establishing genuine connections with subjects, drawing out stories that reflect the depth and authenticity of lived experiences. This methodology has informed projects such as my national award-winning documentary "Meen Raag" and the docu-series "Equals," which premiered on Jio Cinema and Apple TV and received a Special Mention Award at the IDA Awards 2023, both designed to engage audiences while challenging conventional perspectives. Following my graduation from the National Institute of Design, I developed my production expertise in Mumbai, creating content for major broadcast networks. My portfolio includes travel and culinary programming such as "Tyohaar ki Thali" featuring Sakshi Tanwar and "Raja, Rasoi aur Andaaz Anokha" with chef Ranveer Brar, among other productions. This foundation led me to establish Studio Ainak, my independent production company, and Rewrite, a specialized residency program for screenwriters. Through these ventures, I focus on developing projects that explore heritage, cultural narratives, and sustainability themes while fostering creative collaboration. My work has been recognized at various international platforms, though my primary motivation remains building meaningful connections with fellow creators and audiences who value authentic storytelling.
