As President and CEO of Circana, I’m focused on helping companies stay close to how shoppers are changing and how those shifts show up in their business. I joined Circana after years of partnering with the organization and seeing firsthand how its insights helped companies understand real shopper behavior. That focus on the customer has shaped every stage of my career and is a big part of what brought me here. Before Circana, I served as Kroger’s Chief Merchant and Marketing Officer, leading merchandising, marketing, pricing, and digital strategy across the company’s portfolio of brands. Prior to that, I led 84.51°, Kroger’s data analytics arm, and its predecessor, dunnhumby USA. Earlier in my career, I taught AI and analytics as a technology professor in Scotland, years before AI entered the mainstream conversation. I also worked as a software programmer in Silicon Valley before moving into retail, where I’ve spent the last two decades applying those technical foundations to understanding customer behavior. I also serve on the boards of InvenTrust and Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. Understanding consumers has guided my work from the beginning, and that remains a core part of what we do at Circana.
