Aneesh Raman — CEO
By job title, my career makes no sense. War correspondent, presidential speechwriter, growth lead at startups, economic impact lead across sectors, now Chief Economic Opportunity Officer at LinkedIn. The throughline can be hard to find. It was for me, for years. But it turns out it was there all along. My main skill, honed across a career, is storytelling that seeks to change beliefs and behaviors in order to change systems and structures in order to try and change the world for the better. The story I’m focused on most these days has to do with economic opportunity. Imagine economic opportunity is a house. Some people are born inside, unaware there’s even an outside. Others walk through open doors, welcomed in. A few find a cracked window and climb through. But billions - across history and still today - stand at the door. Waiting. Knocking. Pushing. Pulling. For them, the door never opens. I work for them, unlocking as many doors as I can for as many people as I can. Because economic opportunity isn’t just about getting inside that house. It’s about what happens once you get inside that house. It’s about agency. Dignity. The ability to build, to contribute, to create. That should matter to us all because when more people get in, we are all better off. Economic opportunity, dignity, agency, mobility, growth - even prosperity and progress across societies - they all become more inclusive. More shared. I know that to be true having spent over a decade looking at economic opportunity from every altitude and angle. Today, I work at the place where over one billion people from over two hundred countries and territories come to unlock doors, for themselves and others, every day. And so I see that truth play out, every day. The truth that when more doors open, the house gets stronger, organizations get stronger, communities get stronger, economies get stronger, societies get stronger, humanity gets stronger.
