About

Doug Jacobson is an award-winning director and producer of immersive experiences, specializing in immersive storytelling across XR and social VR. As co-founder of Big Rock Creative, he has helmed some of the most ambitious projects in the space — from BRCvr, the fully immersive social VR recreation of Burning Man that debuted in 2020 and was featured in Wired, to BurnerSphere — their latest project, which just won Best Experience of the Year from the Academy of Immersive Arts and Sciences. Under Doug's creative direction, Big Rock Creative has earned the Producer's Guild Innovation Award, the Aurea Award, the No Proscenium Award for Best VR Experience, the Hermes Platinum Award, and the Gold Telly for Best Branded Immersive Content. He also creative-directed the VR adaptation of Breonna's Garden, which premiered at SXSW 2022 and won the Auggie Award for Best Societal Impact. Other credits include an XR music video featuring Pitbull, a Hollywood red carpet premiere in VR, and Pride Has No Borders — an interactive VR exhibit space developed in partnership with Microsoft. Most recently, he served as creative director and co-producer of BurnerSphere — a fully immersive documentary shot on location at Burning Man, combining 360 and 180 3D footage with hand-crafted virtual worlds. Doug's foundation in storytelling runs deep. A USC School of Cinematic Arts graduate with honors, he spent years as an editor and filmmaker, writing, directing, producing, and editing festival award-winning narratives and documentaries. He is a member of the Television Academy and the Producers Guild of America.
