About

With 20 years of experience in technology, international development and business, I have turned my passion for sustainable, ethical living into a driven career. My interest lies in building systems for driving change, be it through policy, business or technology. Currently, I am the founder of a product company focused on AI and 3D visualization based solutions for diagnosis and prognosis of neuro-psychiatric disorders. You can see more about us here - https://brainsightai.com/ I started my career in software development at Netapp and Offshore Development Centre of Cisco at Infosys as a systems programmer. I moved to the international development space where I worked on a wide variety of public health and education issues as an independent consultant, including health and education policy. Subsequently, I went to business school (ISB) to learn about businesses and majored in healthcare. The entrepreneurship bug bit me, and I went to the MIT entrepreneurship bootcamp to learn as much as I could about being one. And here I am. If you are interested in BrainSight's work and would like to reach out, please drop a mail at collaborations@brainsightai.com. If however, you would like to reach out to me on a more personal note, please drop a mail at cos@brainsightai.com

Communications and Technology Officer

  • The Centre for Policy Research (CPR) is one of India's oldest and leading think tanks focusing on public policy. Accountability Initiative is a research initiative within CPR, focused on strengthening the debate on accountability and transparency in India.
  • I joined this research group as the Communications and Technology Officer after a year of volunteering, interning and consulting with development organizations including AI. I was responsible for development of partnerships and strategic outreach. Professionally, it was a very satisfying job, giving me a number of avenues to showcase my talents. My key achievements:
  • Conceptualized, developed and managed all aspects of an action-research capacity building
  • program (PAISA course) to increase citizen engagement with the PAISA report on social sector
  • budgets, governance and outcomes.
  • Parts of the course have been incorporated in the training program for District Collectors at the IAS academy.
  • I was also invited to present the impact of the course at a 20-member consultation on ‘Strengthening Panchayats’ presided by Dr Mihir Shah, Planning Commission
  • Developed toolkits, learning videos and other knowledge products to promote access to AI’s research and uptake of research findings on public service delivery systems
  • Organised conferences, workshops and talks designed to promote dialogue and share research findings
  • Managed all of AI’s online and offline communications including the website, social media, production of reports, policy briefs, blogs and videos
  • Conceptualized and single-handedly organized a bar-camp ‘unconference’ titled “Technology and
  • Transparency Camp”
  • Designed and implemented the operational aspects of the PAISA survey and volunteer training program in Himachal Pradesh and Bihar, managing a team of 3 members and 100 volunteers
  • Led the development of AI’s budgetary data dashboard. Responsible for the entire process from wire-framing and design to testing and delivery

Netapp

Member Technical Staff

  • NetApp, Inc. is a hybrid cloud data services company headquartered in Sunnyvale, California. It has ranked in the Fortune 500 since 2012. The secret to the high-performance, high-volume data services provided by the company is the proprietary ONTAP operating system, which is based on the WAFL file layout.
  • I was recruited to the WAFL team after a gruelling set of interviews. Working with this high-performance team, while understanding the complicated file-system operating system and working on customer features was an immensely challenging and exciting experience.
  • I have total respect for people who have a life-long career in information technology -- one of the most analytically exciting jobs on the planet! However, my real passion lay in development work, and I was more interested in the social implications of technology, than the technology itself. So in 2009, after a year at Netapp, I took a break from software to volunteer at remote locations in India.

Infosys technologies ltd

Software Engineer

Jul 2004Dec 2007 · 3 yrs 5 mos · Bengaluru Area, India

  • Infosys Limited (formerly Infosys Technologies Limited) is an Indian multinational corporation that provides business consulting, information technology and outsourcing services. The Product Engineering Department (PED) provides engineering services and solutions across the lifecycle of our clients’ offering. I worked in the PED department with blue-chip client Cisco on porting their single-process operating system IOS to their cutting-edge multi-process router operating system ION based on BSD Linux.
  • It was analytically challenging role, requiring a thorough understanding of kernel programming, network protocols, multi-process systems engineering, LINUX development environments and operating system architecture. Learning these in a short while, on the job, while being able to deliver on client expectations and surpassing them made this job highly challenging.
