About

I’m an IAS officer by profession and an army brat by upbringing ... which means I grew up believing that change is the only constant (and that you can make a home out of any cantonment in India if you have enough books and a good garden patch).Schooled at Welham Girls’ in Dehradun ( which gave me a love for independence )and later at Lady Shri Ram College, ( which taught me how to think and argue politely about Economics) I went on to earn a Gold Medal in my Masters in Economics from Garhwal University before joining the Indian Administrative Service in 2006. Since then, life has been a journey across districts, departments and an incredible mix of public service, problem-solving and learning on the go. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of serving as District Collector in Bundi, Bikaner and Ajmer; leading the Jodhpur Discom from 2015–18; and spending five years in the Chief Minister’s Office. Along the way came lessons in leadership, resilience and patience (the latter honed through 12 elections, natural disasters and more public hearings than I can count). The journey has been rewarding in many ways ...receiving the National Award from the President of India (2019), the Prime Minister’s Excellence Award for Banko Bikano -a sanitation campaign in Bikaner (2016) and the Best Collector Award (2012) are milestones I hold close. But honestly, it’s the smaller wins- turning around a power utility, bringing slum children back to school, reducing maternal mortality - that remind me why this work matters. At the heart of it all has been one constant: making governance more humane, responsive, and efficient.Outside work, I’m happiest in my garden or being bossed around by my three dachshunds. I love trekking, photography and collecting books faster than I can read them , from Indian fiction and Middle Eastern writers to Harry Potter and thrillers that keep me up too late. Public service is my profession ... curiosity and compassion, my compass. And a little bit of humour and a lot of caffeine always keep me going !
