In my career, I’ve been fortunate as a serial entrepreneur and investor. But if I had to define myself professionally, I would describe myself mostly as the founder and CEO of Paracelsus Recovery, a one-of-a-kind mental health clinic, as well as a passionate advocate for mental health, particularly at the intersection of mental health and wealth. Through my personal and professional experiences, I’ve seen firsthand how wealth impacts mental health. And while mental health awareness has made encouraging strides in many parts of the world, the conversation becomes uncomfortable when it intersects with wealth. Wealthy and "successful" individuals often carry the weight of shame and guilt, feeling isolated by a world that sees their struggles as less deserving of empathy. At the same time, society as a whole can find it difficult to extend that compassion to the wealthy. As long as our dialogue remains framed by conditioned perspectives that divide the world into categories of “good” or “bad,” “deserving” or “undeserving,” “worthy” or “unworthy,” we will never fully break the stigma that prevents us from seeing the truth we all carry within: life is messy, confusing, and complex. Unless we can construct a sense of self (and ultimately, our own reality) that is grounded in positivity, we are destined to suffer. And at the heart of it all the truth that love is the answer to everything. Full stop.
