Tarun has been part of fintech startups and banking ecosystem for last twelve years. He has a comprehensive domain expertise on Neo Banking and Open Banking, Lending (Unsecured Personal loans, SME digital lending, Alternative lending, Product definition etc.) and Payments (Aadhaar, AEPS, UPI, Merchant ecosystem). He has been leading strategy, product mgmt., and business development area with his expertise in building SaaS and lending products and scaling-up distribution. He has extensive experience in setting up neobanking and lending businesses from scratch and building strategic collaboration with Banks and NBFCs. He is currently SVP & Product Head at Kotak to build digital platforms for retail assets. He is leading unsecured Personal loan from P&L to building digital stack for 2X growth. He was Co-founder of a SME neobank empowering SMEs to focus on business growth by streamlining their cashflows. He envisioned, conceptualised and designed the entire product, and launched the SME neobank platform and a cobrand business credit card for SMEs. He has also had a stint on setting up a SME lending marketplace connecting lenders and borrowers on the platform. Prior to this, he led the strategy and business development for a fintech startup based in Bangalore. The startup started its journey as a tech product company and evolved as a NBFC (leveraging AI/ML based tech platform). Tarun was part of the leadership team and strategized an entire financial inclusion ecosystem to serve bottom of pyramid customers in rural and semi-urban areas. The ecosystem was built around a merchant model that acted as a transaction/acceptance point for facilitation of banking services using tablet/mobile based tech platform. The merchant was enabled to offer the following services leveraging the tech platform - Aadhaar based account opening, cash deposit, fund transfer, Credit (group and individual), and value added services. He also worked in Australia for close to 5 years in Project Management and Account Management area. He is an MBA from Melbourne Business School, Australia and was also part of the MBA exchange program at National University of Singapore, Singapore. He holds a bachelor in Mechanical Engineering.
