Mathias Magdowski — Product Engineer
My name is Mathias Magdowski. I'm an engineer by heart and work as a lecturer, researcher and scientific co-worker at the Otto von Guericke University in Magdeburg, Germany. I like to experiment with many alternative ways of teaching and learning using interactive quizzes, recording tutorial videos for YouTube, streaming online and hybrid lectures on Twitch, or letting students share their learning insights on social media. I'm also active in STEM outreach as an IEEE STEM Champion, working as a mentor of our IEEE Student Branch and active for marketing and member services within the IEEE German EMC Chapter. My current research interest includes analytical and statistical methods for modeling EMC problems, especially the field-to-wire coupling of statistic fields in mode-stirred chambers. I'm a member of the corporate research group 767.3-767.4 within the German Commission for Electrical, Electronic & Information Technologies and I serve as the co-convenor of the Joint Working Group on Reverberation Chambers within the International Electrotechnical Commission and the International Special Committee on Radio Interference. I am responsible for the training, the consultation hours, the admission and examination of the courses "Fundamentals of Electrical Engineering" as well as "Electromagnetic Compatibility", where I enjoy to deal with alternative teaching and learning methods. For my continued effort, I was awarded with the best lecturer of OVGU award in 2018 and 2022. I also coordinate the working group on online teaching at our university as well as our faculty group for study advertising. Between 2015 and 2022, I was also involved into the GRIAT program, where I was awarded with the best GRIAT lecturer award from OVGU in 2017 and 2018.
