Suganya Balakumar, Ph.D — Data Scientist
I’ve always been fascinated by patterns - how people make decisions, how processes take shape, and how a small change can create a big ripple. My journey started in academia, where I earned a PhD in Economics and spent a few years teaching. I loved diving deep into ideas and helping others see connections they hadn't noticed before. Over time, my curiosity led me toward the world of data and the stories hidden within it. For the past few years, I’ve been working in data science. I helped teams find clarity in complex processes, uncover insights, and build better ways of working. Currently, I work with the Mobility and Loyalty team, working hands-on with customer data. It’s a role that combines what I enjoy most: analytical thinking, problem-solving, and understanding human behavior. Beyond work, I’m passionate about writing, behavioral economics, and exploring how data and decisions intertwine. I believe that good data science isn’t just about numbers — it’s about asking the right questions, telling the right stories, and creating real impact. I'm always excited to learn, share ideas, and collaborate with others who believe in the power of thoughtful change. Publications: 1.
