About

I build robots that operate where humans cannot—from lunar micro-rovers to autonomous farm machines. My focus is on making robots see, decide, and act reliably in the toughest environments. At Carnegie Mellon’s Robotics Institute, I lead autonomy and navigation research. I work on MoonRanger, a NASA-funded lunar rover, developing software that enables it to drive itself on the Moon. I also direct navigation for the AI Institute for Resilient Agriculture, creating crop-agnostic methods that combine GPS, vision, and drone mapping to guide field robots with centimeter-level accuracy. Over the past decade, I have designed and deployed robotic systems in deserts, mines, farms, and polar terrains. My work spans planetary exploration, precision agriculture, and autonomous off-road vehicles, with results published at IROS, ICRA, iSAIRAS, and in The Planetary Science Journal. I hold a U.S. patent with more than 400 citations. Beyond building systems, I lead and mentor engineering teams, driving innovation from concept to field deployment. My goal is to expand the frontier of autonomy—pushing robots to operate longer, farther, and smarter in real-world missions.
