The humanism project

Co-founder & Director

Mar 2020Present · 6 yrs 2 mos · Australia

  • The Humanism Project (THP) is a social justice advocacy organisation that represents the religious, regional and linguistic diversity of the Indian diaspora in Australia. It is a national coalition of individuals and organisations in Australia and overseas who have come together with a vision to create a better world where all humans have equal rights, dignity and opportunity; regardless of who they are, where they come from, how they pray, what they wear, who they love or what they eat. We seek to achieve our objectives through political advocacy, on-ground events, on-line media and co-ordinated legal interventions to influence, among other things, Australia’s public policy towards human rights in South Asia. High level actions that our advocacy has enabled include the tabling of a motion on human rights in an Australian state parliament in August 2020, a joint briefing on human rights with Amnesty International to the Australian Parliamentarians in March 2021 and successfully advocating for inclusion of caste discrimination as a form of racism in the Australian Human Rights Commission's Anti-Racism Framework in 2022. And more.
