• During my time at AECOM UK, I was the Inspector and Lead Inspector of several General and Principal inspections of Highway Structures, making sure appropriate H&S procedures were followed. After the inspection, I prepared inspections reports including all defects and proposed maintenance and remedial works. I also helped the Project Manager with the planning of these inspections, liaising
• with the clients and arranging access when required.
• I carried out the preliminary design of a footbridge in Cornwall and a different retaining walls for a transport interchange. I worked in multi-disciplinary teams to make sure designs were coordinated and met all the requirements.
• I provide site support at the A13 widening project. I helped the NEC Supervisor on site with the supervision of the construction of 3 road bridges and 1 footbridge.

• I joined Crucis Designs after graduating as a MEng in Civil Engineering from the High School of Civil Engineering of Santander (Spain).
• I was involved in residential, commercial and educational projects and also in structural alterations/extensions to existing buildings.
• As a Structural Engineer, I carried out the following tasks:
• Evaluate architectural drawings and propose preliminary structure.
• Assess loads coming down through the structure to calculate forces in elements.
• Design steel, timber and concrete members in accordance with British Standards.
• Design masonry walls in accordance with British Standards.
• Check existing structure and foundations under new load arrangements.
• Design new concrete ground beams and calculate loads on new piles.
• Define formation depths in accordance with NHBC Standards.
• Provide structural details which reflect assumptions made in structural calculations.
• Give support to drafting team in drawing structural details to ensure adequate information is provided in structural drawings.
• Revise structural drawings and RC drawings.
• Design of simple steel connections and moment steel connections in accordance with SCI Green Book.
• Model steel frames and timber trusses in SCIA Engineer (FEM Software) to calculate forces and displacements efficiently. Carry out hand checks to verify FEM models.
• Carry out structural surveys for small projects.
• Build up fee proposals.
• Deal with queries from Architects, Contractors and Clients.
• During this time at Crucis, I had the opportunity to be involved in a broad range of projects from beginning to delivery. One of the most challenging projects was a 3-storeys teaching block in composite construction. In this project, I was the project engineer responsible for the structural design of the composite deck and beams.
