• I was part of the Knowledge Discovery Lab of GE Global Research Center in Niskayuna, NY. I was involved in ontology modeling, processing and querying of data from different domains such as power, aviation, healthcare etc.

• I worked on a project which is about situational understanding from social data. My role was to develop a domain model in the form of an ontology and reasoning services on top of the ontology. I also looked into the event extraction from tweets, so that terms in tweets can be mapped to concepts in the ontology.

• As part of Marie Curie International Research Staff Exchange Scheme of the SemData project, I visited University of Huddersfield in UK for a month. I interacted with other well known researchers in the area of large scale reasoning during this period.

• I worked on distributed classification of EL++ ontologies in the context of traffic data. This system supports incremental classification and load balancing. Load balancing is implemented using the concept of work stealing.

• I worked on scalable SPARQL query processing over large data. We concentrated on efficient distribution of RDF data across a cluster and join processing of triple patterns in the query.

• I looked into the current work on temporal modeling and developed a temporal model as well as a reasoning mechanism on top of it. This was done using OWL and SWRL. The model is based on James Allen’s temporal operators.

• I worked on a parallel implementation of EL+ reasoner using Cray XMT supercomputer, which provides a scalable multithreaded platform with shared memory architecture. I was mentored by Dr. Evren Sirin during this period.
