About

I've been a CTO, a COO, a VP of Engineering, and a founding/early-stage startup engineer — sometimes in sequence, sometimes cycling back depending on what the company needed. At NoRedInk, I joined as Engineer #4 and held five roles over five years: Engineer → Director of Engineering → VP of Engineering → COO → CTO. As COO, I ran Operations, People Ops, and Finance — unusual scope for someone from engineering, but the company needed it. I helped scale the team from 9 to 45+ engineers, from Series A through 9-figure valuation. Before that, I was the founding engineer at Private Internet Access, a bootstrapped security company. No venture capital, scaled to profitability, exited at ~$130M in 2019. I ended that chapter as CTO. I'm currently at PayNearMe. I joined as an advisor and engineer, implementing the company's monitoring, observability, and alerting infrastructure. Then moved into VP of Engineering for Platform and Cloud, modernizing infrastructure, reducing operational burden, and improving security and compliance. Now I'm leading a cross-functional Quality and Reliability effort across Engineering, Product, and Operations. I'm based in São Paulo and have led US-based remote teams for 17+ years.
