Senior National Sales Executive

May 2002Dec 2013 · 11 yrs 7 mos

  • At iPay I worked directly with senior management at Banks and Credit Unions on bill pay decisions. My responsibilities started with generating leads from channels, user groups, trade shows, etc... and elevating suspects into prospects. I would handle every aspect of the sales cycle from presenting my solution, to providing custom proposals, to delivering contracts and ultimately closing the deal.
  • I began my career at iPay by building the inside sales department from the ground up. This included "writing the book" for what this role would eventually become. I would call on existing clients and up sell them on new products and work with them to extend their contract.
  • After 2 years I transitioned into a new client sales role. Within this capacity I managed over a dozen referral and reseller relationships. I would travel to various national conferences and user groups where I would often be asked to speak to those in attendance. These speaking engagements would range from specific topics such as online bill pay to more broad views on payments in general and the future of the financial industry.
  • I held the senior national sales executive position for over 8 years and was responsible for approximately 1,000 new client sales. I was trusted as the expert in bill pay for of all my partners that I worked with.

Army national guard

Tank Commander

Feb 1997Sep 2008 · 11 yrs 7 mos

  • I enlisted into the KYARNG in 1997 as a combat medic (91 Bravo). I completed basic training at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri then attended school at Ft. Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas. While in school at the combat medic academy, the top academic students qualified to take the national EMT test and I passed. I reported for duty at Ft. Knox, Ky and was attached to an Armor battalion. I was identified as a top junior NCO and competed and won the Soldier of the year award.
  • I also volunteered one summer on the Drug Eradication Task Force, which was a joint local, state, and federal effort to destroy illegal drugs in Eastern Kentucky. I was the assigned medic on the Blackhawk team, where we would repel from the helicopters into the mountains to destroy marijuana. I had the pleasure of working with State Police, DEA, FBI, and occasionally other federal agents.
  • After deciding to take on more of a leadership role, I signed up for OCS (Officer Candidate School). For one weekend a month for 18 months I trained to be an officer. During this challenging period of time, our class shrunk from over 100 students to graduating approximately 30. This school included basic infantry skills as well as mastering Troop Leading Procedures. I served as the Vice President of my class.
  • The next level in my military training was Armor Officer School, that I attended at Ft. Knox, KY. I learned how to operate and lead a platoon and company of M1A2 Abrams Main Battle Tanks. The training combined classroom, small group, and practical exercise instruction designed to build leadership skills and Warrior Ethos.
