Lieutenant General Satish Dua, PVSM, UYSM, SM, VSM retired from the Indian Army as Chief of Integrated Defence Staff. As Corps Commander of the Srinagar based 15 Corps, he planned and executed the Uri Surgical Strikes in Kashmir. As Chief of Integrated Defence Staff, he steered the construction of National War Memorial and played a key role in modernising the armed forces as part of the Defence Acquisition Council and was a founding member of the Defence Planning Committee. As a member of National Crisis Management Group, he coordinated the efforts of Army, Navy & Air Force in National Crises & Disaster situations. He has been awarded the Param Vishisht Seva Medal, the Uttam Yudh Seva Medal, Sena Medal and Vishisht Seva Medal for his exemplary service. Post-retirement, he authored the two books - 'INDIA'S BRAVEHEARTS' (translated in three more languages) and A GENERAL REMINISCES: A Life Under Fire in Kashmir (The true story of a terrorist turned soldier-hero)
