  • Managing products to meet budget and time became more difficult with the waterfall approach due to the speedy evolvement of software development.This led to us transitioning from Waterfall to Agile Methodology for our projects in 2016. As the head of people and products in the company, my first duty was to understand the methodology(having graduated from the waterfall) and then train the rest of the company on this approach.
  • It was a slow but steady transition, but we have since evolved fully into an Agile team working with user stories and epics to break projects down into sprints with shorter review and feedback period compared to Waterfall approach. This has also culminated in more successful projects and satisfied clients.
  • A summary of my duties as the PM includes;
  • 1.Providing training for members of the team on handling projects and products the agile way: This includes preparing a comprehensive document for the team that simplifies the terms in Agile methodology.
  • 2. Anchoring meeting between clients and our development team to agree on requirements and come up with userstories for projects.
  • 3. Plan sprints with the development team: we hold weekly or bi-weekly sprints depending on the nature of the project. We breakdown feedback cycles in the project into shorter time by analysing with the rest of the team on the technicality of clients requirements.
  • 4. Provide Support for the Product Owner in managing customer expectations for project deliverables, managing stakeholder communications, and helping to implement an effective system of project governance.
  • 5.Assist in team development while holding teams accountable for their commitments, removing roadblocks to their work, leveraging organizational resources to improve capacity for project work, and mentoring and developing team members.

  • My role at Mettalloids immediately I joined in 2014 was to help set up their first office and team. Having discussed with the CEO to understand his vision for the company, I was saddled with the responsibility of getting the office space, setting it up and recruiting our first set of Software developers (It was the days of micro beginnings) and overseeing operations.
  • We have since grown into a company with full time and part time staffs and payroll, four departments, three subsidiaries, raised seed capital from Tony Elumelu Foundation, worked on multiple projects for mainstream companies within and outside the country. I have also been directly responsible for recruiting over 50 staffs till date.
  • Here is a summary of my duties as a HR/Operations Manager;
  • 1.Help provide day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (e.g., coaching, counselling, career development, disciplinary actions).
  • 2.Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues. Conduct effective, thorough and objective investigations.
  • 3.Work closely with the rest of the management team and other departments to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
  • 4.Negotiate salaries and develop contract terms for new hires and current staffs.
  • 5.Development of company’s policy manual which got the board’s and team’s approval, which I also successfully reviewed and expanded upon scaling of company to include an operation manual for all of the company’s subsidiaries.
  • 6.Creation and implementation of onboarding program for new recruits.
  • 7. Develop and consistently update performance review methods for staffs.
