About

When my grandmother was diagnosed with Parkinson’s, she said one thing: “I don’t want to leave my home.” She didn’t want to live in a care home. She wanted familiarity. Dignity. Belonging. She didn’t get that. She moved between family members’ homes, feeling like a burden. Eventually, she returned to her empty house. That’s where she passed away. She suffered more from loneliness than from Parkinson’s. That experience stayed with me. After years in social work, I co-founded Sylvian Care in 2014 to give people what my grandmother never had: The ability to remain at home, supported by care that feels human. We started with one location and one clear purpose: to provide the best possible care to our clients. Within a year, we reached £1M turnover. By year five, £2.4M. But growth alone wasn’t the point. What mattered was building something that could exist beyond me. So we franchised. Over the last decade, I’ve built, scaled, and led a UK care franchise network to 22 locations – learning, often the hard way, what actually works when turning a founder-led business into a replicable model. Today, my work has evolved. I now support founders and business owners who want to scale through franchising – not as a quick fix, but as a deliberate, structured path to growth. We work with people who: • Have a business they care deeply about and want to scale the right way • Feel capped by time, energy, or dependence on themselves • Want to grow without losing values, culture, or control • Are asking: “Is franchising right for this business – and for me?” There’s no one-size-fits-all path to scale. Franchising only works when the foundations are right. If you’re exploring franchising as a growth path – or want an honest conversation about whether it’s the right move please email us at franchising@sylviancare.co.uk And if my story resonates, you’re likely in the right place.
