• Worked on cloud computing and data center networking technologies. Led the design and implementation of DataBahn, the first all-optical data center network architecture. This work was published at HotNets'10, OFC/NFC'11, and NSDI'12.

• Design and implementation of BFTSim, a new simulator to compare and evaluate the performance of reliability protocols under faults. This work was published at USENIX NSDI'08. Also worked on Zeno, the first eventually consistent Byzantine fault-tolerant protocol that does not sacrifice availability under failures. Zeno is the first protocol that is applicable to wide-area e-commerce applications. Zeno was published at USENIX NSDI'09.

• Built a logging, monitoring, and debugging facility on top of the P2 declarative networking system. The key idea is that the declarative development of distributed systems allows us to specify the different monitoring tasks as additional queries in the same framework. This work was published at EuroSys 2006.

• Worked on improving the fault-tolerance of structured peer-to-peer overlay networks. Specifically, discovered a new attack on the routing infrastructure called Eclipse attack and proposed a new defense that does not sacrifice the performance of p2p overlays. This work was published at IEEE Infocom 2006.
