About

I am an independent journalist, content developer and author based in Bangalore, India, with 23 years of experience spanning diverse media platforms. As a seasoned features journalist, my bylines are on some of the world’s most renowned publications, including The New York Times, Al Jazeera, The National, Nikkei Asia, Whetstone South Asia, Going Places, and Eaten. Domestically, I’ve contributed to top-tier Indian publications like Condé Nast Traveller, Architectural Digest, Travel & Leisure India, Nat Geo Traveller, Mint Lounge, Reader's Digest, Lifestyle Asia, The Hindu, Firstpost, The LabMag, Nod, Deccan Herald, Paper Planes and more. I am also the author and editor of India’s Most Legendary Restaurants, published by Aleph Book Co., which was showcased at the Bangalore Literature Festival and the Orange City Literature Festival in Nagpur in 2024; and at the Hindu Litfest in Chennai in 2025. Additionally, I’ve contributed to the Bloomsbury Handbook of Indian Cuisine and serve on the organising committee of the annual Indian Culinary Agenda initiative in Delhi. My passion for F&B journalism has allowed me to engage personally with culinary legends such as the iconic trio of MasterChef Australia—Gary Mehigan, Matt Preston, and George Calombaris—alongside luminaries like Marco Pierre White, Gaggan Anand, Garima Arora, Vivek Singh, Hari Nayak, and Sameer Taneja. I am privileged to serve as a jury member for prestigious F&B awards like the Condé Nast Restaurant Awards, the Epicurean Star Awards and the NDTV Food Awards. In 2021, my article How the Colonization of India Influenced Global Cuisines, published in Al Jazeera, earned an Honourable Mention for Excellence in Journalism from the International Food Wine Travel Writers Association. I also received the Best Profile of a Brewery award from The North American Guild of Beer Writers in 2022 for my feature on Geist in Bangalore. Beyond journalism, I specialise in PR and marketing communications, with Indian and international clientele, crafting compelling content across sectors like real estate, hospitality, technology, education, medicine, fintech and more. I regularly conduct workshops. I have taught at institutions such as the Manipal Institute of Communication, Department of Hospitality, Christ University, NITTE, NMKRV and Kristu Jayanti College. I also conduct online and offline workshops for aspiring features journalists and for PR professionals on how to maximise their interactions with journalists.

  • The role demanded the dual capacities of an editor and reporter. I was solely in-charge of the Sunday supplement "Theme", where 4 complete broadsheets were dedicated to a single topic. This was in terms of ideation, content co-ordination and production.
  • I was also in charge of quality control for all other feature supplements covering Information Technology, Film, Real Estate, Education, Science, Health and Family Matters. Besides which I regularly contributed articles to all of the above supplements. I have more than 150 bylines to my credit.
  • Efficiently handled team co-ordination and work delegation for the production of the supplements.
  • Demonstrated an ability to switch between varying supplements to ensure that each one is progressing as per schedule.
  • Displayed an innate ability to give a fresh spin to a run-of-the-mill topic and ensuring that all topics covered in respective supplements were of relevance.
  • Was effective in management of issues related to inclusion of ads, creation and placement of advertorials, co-ordination with sales department as well as with relevant PR agencies which often result in layout change.
  • Was entrusted with the creation of supplements which were a result of sales closures and thus produced on a time crunch.
  • A highlight has been a personal interaction with several prominent people of society from the fields of medicine, Science, Information Technology, Social Welfare and Bollywood as well as activists of various causes.
