I design operating systems for complex organisations. The organisation is sometimes a law firm in Bangkok. Sometimes it's a school in Lusaka. The problem is structurally the same. I spent thirty years inside some of the world's most demanding professional environments — as CFO of Arthur Andersen's Dutch practice at twenty-seven, then at Deloitte where I built and ran a capability of four thousand people across Audit, Tax, Risk, Consulting and Financial Advisory in Hyderabad for eleven years. I was not advising on how professional services firms work. I was running the numbers on it from the inside. What I came to understand — through the offshore experiment, through the data science degree I did in 2020, through watching firm after firm deploy AI tools without changing anything structural — is that the model professional services firms have run for thirty years is under a pressure it cannot absorb by working harder. I am writing a book about it: The Headcount Trap — Why Professional Services Firms Must Replace Labor with Intelligence. What I do today across two parallel tracks: Through MagickPro Services, I work with professional services firms across Southeast Asia and APAC to deploy AI workforce infrastructure — not tools, not subscriptions, but operational AI workforces that decouple production capacity from headcount and build compounding intelligence into the firm as an asset. As a Fractional COO and governance advisor, I work with international schools on the financial and operational design problems that boards find hardest: financial governance frameworks, multi-year modeling, procurement systems, and the board accountability structures that hold it all together. My current and recent engagements span AISL in Lusaka, George Washington Academy in Casablanca and HIS Harare. I am based across the Netherlands, Bangkok, Phnom Penh, Lusaka, Casablanca and wherever the work takes me.
