About

I work in banking strategy at Emirates NBD in Dubai. On the side, I run One Man Consultant — where I help technical founders build go-to-market strategies and small business owners think bigger about growth. My belief: one person armed with AI tools can now deliver the kind of strategic thinking that used to require a full consulting team and a six-figure engagement. AI handles the research. I provide the judgment layer — knowing what questions to ask, which outputs to trust, and how to turn messy information into a clear, actionable strategy. My background is in management consulting (McKinsey), where I worked across metals and mining, pharmaceuticals, construction, private equity, and fashion retail. Before that, I set up and managed a manufacturing facility at ITC Limited, leading a team of 100+ people. I've also spent the last several months deep in the trenches of startup ideation — evaluating ideas across quick commerce, EdTech, parenting, health tech, and more. Some survived. Most didn't. All of them sharpened how I think about strategy. I write about GTM strategy, competitive analysis, market sizing, and the honest realities of the 0-to-1 journey. If you're a founder figuring out go-to-market, or a business owner who needs a strategy but not a strategy deck — let's talk. www.onemanconsultant.com (full launch shortly)

Career transition

Feb 2018Dec 2021 · 3 yrs 10 mos · Kochi, Kerala

  • 1. Attempted starting up in the career tech space. It didn't work out — but the process of building, failing, and learning taught me more about strategy and execution than any job ever did.
  • 2. Provided management consulting to early-stage startups and small businesses — the work that eventually became One Man Consultant.
  • 3. Worked in an ed-tech startup as part of business development
  • 4. Conducted market research for a religion tech idea. Interviewed 20 church heads as part of research. Dropped idea as demand was not validated.
  • 5. Explored life beyond corporate jobs — tested ideas, built conviction about what kind of work I want to do long-term.
  • This period was messy, nonlinear, and invaluable. Not every chapter needs to look polished on a resume.

Junior Associate

Sep 2016Jan 2018 · 1 yr 4 mos · Chennai Area, India

  • Worked across five engagements spanning metals and mining, pharmaceuticals, construction, and private equity:
  • Led cost transformation ideation with senior leadership for a major metals and mining company — structured brainstorming, target-setting, and tracking to ensure cost reduction targets were achieved.
  • Supported the reorganisation of the marketing division for a major telecom client.
  • Worked on supply chain optimisation for a pharmaceuticals company.
  • Drove an analytics-led cost reduction programme for India's largest construction company.
  • Conducted due diligence for a major private equity transaction, evaluating a potential acquisition target.
  • Core skills across all engagements: structured problem-solving, hypothesis-driven analysis, stakeholder alignment, and translating complex analysis into actionable recommendations for C-suite decision-makers.

Summer Associate

Apr 2015May 2015 · 1 mo · Mumbai Area, India

  • Worked with one of India's largest fashion retail conglomerates to develop a long-term strategic roadmap. The engagement resulted in the identification and launch of an entirely new product category for the client.
  • This was my introduction to management consulting — and to the process of taking ambiguous business problems, structuring them, and delivering clear strategic recommendations under tight timelines.

Assistant Manager - Projects

Promoted

Jul 2011Jun 2014 · 2 yrs 11 mos · Chennai · On-site

  • Set up a manufacturing facility from a greenfield site — managing the full lifecycle from construction to commissioning.
  • Single-handedly managed a daily workforce of 100+ people across engineers, managers, contractors, and labourers. Coordinated across cross-functional disciplines to convert an open barren ground into a fully operational production facility.
  • The biggest skill from this chapter wasn't technical — it was people management. Leading 100 people with different skill levels, motivations, and working styles, under daily pressure and tight deadlines, taught me more about leadership than any classroom ever could.

Summer Intern

Apr 2010May 2010 · 1 mo · Bengaluru Area, India

  • Built a complete quality management system from scratch — with zero coding background.
  • The system enabled ITC to track and monitor quality parameters across its infrastructure projects. Designed the architecture, wrote the code, tested it on live projects, and delivered a working product in two weeks.
  • This was years before AI coding tools existed. No templates, no frameworks, no technical mentor — just a problem that needed solving and the stubbornness to figure it out. The system was adopted for real-time quality tracking across active projects.
  • Looking back, this was the earliest version of what I now do regularly — take a problem I don't have the technical skills for, break it down until it's buildable, and ship something that works.
