• Managed a budget of $185MM to use novel MPD techniques for the drilling and testing of a high-H2S appraisal well in an environmentally sensitive, geologically complex, fractured carbonate. On completion of operations, initiated an inventory review that identified $17MM of surplus stock for sale or disposal.

• Led a joint-venture team of Russian National and expatriate staff to deliver Ultra-ERD oil and high-rate gas (±120MMscf/d) wells from three remote platforms in an extreme arctic environment.
• Approved plans from concept to execution as the Technical Authority for Well Operations & Design and achieved over $13MM of annual savings by overseeing activities such as the refurbishment of ageing rig packages; delivery of big-bore gas wells; installation of sand control systems; and execution of WRFM activities.
• Monitored operations and supported staff throughout a deteriorating geopolitical situation and facilitated a safe, professional exit of Shell from the SEIC venture.

• Supervised shipyard MPD upgrades and pre-contract audit action close-out for a 7th Generation Drillship, before producing rig specific HPHT/MPD guidelines and supporting in-country teams during the execution of deepwater HPHT/MPD wildcat exploration drilling operations.

• Joined a small, new-country entry team for the drilling and testing of an environmentally sensitive Black Sea deepwater exploration well using MPD techniques. Oversaw drillship mobilisation and MPD system commissioning, before leading operations - including the recovery from an HPHT influx - to deliver the well safely with all exploration objectives achieved ahead of budget.

Enabled the achievement of all exploration objectives by coordinating the HAZOP process; approving equipment specifications; developing procedures; reviewing programmes; providing rig-crew training events; and leading field operations throughout the penetration of a subsurface gas cloud and the HPHT target zone.
