Sarah Zhang — Software Engineer

My name is Sarah Zhang and I am an undergraduate computer science student at the University of Texas at Austin interested in becoming a skilled professional in the tech industry. I am interested in software engineering and data engineering related roles and I am currently seeking full-time opportunities for 2023. As a passionate student, I have learned about and witnessed how coding can bring to life the powers of computer technology through my educational experiences in taking advanced computer science courses, such as Data Structures and Software Engineering. I have completed numerous programming labs through these courses while managing my extracurricular activities, such as CS Ambassadors where I provide coffee chats and tours to prospective students. I have also taken my own initiative to take online courses to gain more knowledge and skills in technical areas including Python and data science. On top of that, I have worked on a couple of personal projects, such as developing my own website and creating an app. I have also had the incredible opportunities of working at Asana and Fidelity Investments as a Software Engineering Intern and at Meta as a Data Engineering Intern where I took charge of many projects that involved a variety of technical areas including Python, back-end JavaScript, SQL, and API development. During my Asana internship last summer, I took on the responsibility for the success of a back-end project that I drove starting from implementing a design after communicating with other engineers to programming in back-end Javascript to testing and deploying my code. Not only did I realize the responsibility and commitment that an internship would entail, but I also learned how to build strong relationships with my teammates and gained important problem-solving skills there. I would love to apply my computer programming and analytical skills to achieve innovative results and would love the opportunity to learn more advanced skills from other professionals that I would be working with!
