At VMware I worked on various infrastructure projects, along with a set of great colleagues. These projects spanned from enhancements in operating systems at the hardware/software interface to large scale distributed systems management. I have around a dozen patents spanning across these domains. In particular, I worked on the following projects.
1) Optimizations to improve the scale and performance of VMware's Distributed Resource Scheduler (DRS) product.
2) Made improvements in the ESX hypervisor's NUMA scheduler to efficiently support large VMs.
3) Made enhancements to the ESX hypervisor's CPU scheduler to make it run better on large-scale multicore systems.
4) Mentoring interns and collaborating with researchers from leading universities to build research prototypes.
5) Lots of other work: writing test cases, refactoring code, giving presentations and fixing bugs to make all these projects happen.
