About

I am a technology executive with over 30 years of experience in executive, entrepreneurial and engineering roles across all major functional areas including product development, R&D, team building, strategy and business operations. I received the 2023 SID David Sarnoff Prize winner for my work commercializing Nobel Prize winning Quantum Dot Technology in over 60 million displays at Nanosys, which was acquired this year by Shoei Chemical. I was a founding executive of MagnaChip Semiconductor, a global leader is DDI and power semiconductors which had a successful NYSE IPO, and I am the winner of the Hewlett Award at HP/Agilent for my work developing the 6B+ unit selling optical mouse. Currently I head Meta's XDO Engineering organization, where we are working to reduce the power and size of high resolution displays, cameras, depth sensors and more to fit within all day wearable form factors for the Metaverse. I have a proven track record of turning emerging technologies into successful commercial products and have been an early stage founder investor or key contributor to multiple companies in industries including power generation, energy storage, mobility and fashion. I am a named inventor on over 100 patents including key enabling inventions in optical sensing, quantum dot materials and displays. Specialties: Product development, strategic technology roadmapping, entrepreneurship, general management, business operations, venture capital fundraising, culture building, product marketing, intellectual property, technology and strategy, strategic partnerships

Fourth power

Chairman

Oct 2023Present · 2 yrs 7 mos · Boston, Massachusetts, United States · Remote

  • Board Chair for Fourth Power, an MIT spin out founded by Asegun Henry, who achieved the highest recorded operating temperature, 1,200 °C (1,470 K), for a liquid pump which operated continuously for 72 hours. Financially backed by DCVC and Breakthrough Energy Ventures, Fourth Power's technology makes renewable energy an on-demand energy source through utility-scale thermal storage. We can harness today’s wasted wind and solar production to respond to grid needs at a cost competitive with fossil fuels. Our modular battery can provide 5 to 10 hours of storage to meet needs now and scale with renewable deployment for needs up to 500 hours and any increment in between. With the ability to provide short- and long-duration energy storage (LDES), we can start small and grow with the grid to save consumers money and ensure a clean energy future.
