  • 1. Currently for last 10months I have been working on 802.11 ac Gigabit WiFi Access point. I am one of the key contributor in the 11ac radio driver bring up along with various 11ac features like dynamic RTS/CTS, 80Mhz support, Transmit queue scheduler.
  • 2. For couple of months I worked on Access point maintenance in handling the customer escalations and debugging the issues raised by the internal test teams.
  • 3. In Juniper I started working on Next Gen Campus Architecture (NGCA) that defines centralized Core architecture providing:
  • ● Single point of configuration and management through centralized Core
  • ● Aggregation of the services at the centralized Core
  • ● Centralized Control plane
  • ● User centric view of networking (identity based networking)
  • My job was to handle few features in RF Manager component in core and few features in RF Agent module in Access Point. One of the feature I worked on was regulatory table that provides APIs related to access point details, list of channels and their power levels for RF Manager module. I worked on developing show command CLI to display statistics related to access points and clients connected. I worked on network load balancing feature to make sure all the access points under a WLAN controller are equally balanced in terms of number of clients. I worked on a feature which identifies a failure in the network and tries to countermeasure such failures. All the above features have to interact with node manger module that manages the nodes and maintains the state of all the nodes in the network. I worked on developing APIs for all the above features to interact with node manager module.

  • I worked on Enterprise radio management features like Auto channel assignment of all the APs connected to the WLAN controller, Client load balancing, Client location identification and Wireless coverage hole detection and recovery features for Enterprise WLAN controller. I was responsible for the problem identification, design and implementation of these features. In order to enable these features, wireless reports collected on each of the APs are collectively processed at WLAN controller.
  • Previous to this, I was working on some of the WiFi client features like client roaming, efficient client power save based on the device's power management state.
  • Client Roaming: This feature helps mobile clients to optimally roam between the APs with reliable connectivity and maximum bandwidth without any minimal effect of on-going voice, video calls.
  • Client Power Save:This feature helps mobile clients to save battery by putting the radio's Tx and Rx engines to sleep mode or fully bring down the radio based on the client's power management states like standby, hibernate, logout, shutdown and various other modes.

  • Worked on WiFi 11n continuous transmit module used for radio validation during the manufacturing to calibrate the 802.11n Phy rates, channel transmit powers and range of the radio chipset.
  • Previous to the above work, I worked on 802.11n Dual band, dual concurrent enterprise access point radio driver development. This enterprise AP gives a theoretical PHY rate of 600Mbps with both the radios and about 450Mbps of TCP throughput. In this AP development, I worked mostly on the performance tuning and issues that occured with dual concurrency. During this AP development, I was even responsible for maintaining the whole wireless security module (802.11i) with static/shared WEP, WPA and WPA2 security modes.

  • I am one of the main contributor in bringing up the first 11n AP product for this company. I started enabling the buffer management of the 11n radio driver that can be used in both the transmit and receive engines. I was responsible for configuring the HW queues, MAC engines of the Atheros radio. I was able to dig fully into the transmit descriptor preparation, post transmit descriptor processing, tx completion handling and receive descriptor handling of the Atheros radio driver.
  • Apart from the main infrastructure development to enable the radio, I worked on various 11n features like adaptive rate algorithm, transmit scheduler for frame aggregations, WMM power save, multiple bssid, background scanning on AP and few others.
  • After the first 11n AP product was released, we worked on various 11n AP skews to satisfy various customer requirements. And even worked extensively on various client drivers with various features enabled based on the customer requirements. One such requirement on client is to extend the network onto the wired clients behind the wireless client.
