• Built developer-facing features for Code Scanning, GitHub’s security scanning product, as part of a small team integrating Semmle (makers of CodeQL) post-acquisition. Focused on making advanced security analysis accessible and actionable for developers, contributing to enablement on over 100k repositories as part of GitHubAdvanced Security.
• Created the UI for GitHub Advisory Database, a public security vulnerability database that helps developers discover and remediate security issues in their dependencies. Built developer-facing interfaces for browsing, searching, and understanding security advisories across the open-source ecosystem.
• Worked on a 3 person team to build the Checks API and user experience. This feature allows integrators to run powerful checks against the code changes in a Repository. Led the project from Beta to General Availability. The Checks API serves as the foundation for Actions and receives over 30 million requests a day.
• Introduced a new access pattern, fine-grained personal access tokens, to a high traffic API (the GitHub
• GraphQL API) that sees over 6500 requests a second. This provides integrators with a more secure programmatic access token type.
• Co-led a cross organization project to improve developer friction caused by flaky tests. Reduced the number of failed builds on master due to flakes from 10% to 2% which improved developer velocity (fewer developers needed to re-run CI due to flakes before deploying). Improved automated flake detection from 25% to 85% (developers no longer needed to manually identify failing tests as flakes).
