I love what I do! For the last 10 years I've been working as an Operations Engineer, working with a wide variety of technologies, from SQL servers to F5 load balancers. For the past 2 years I have been part of the team NOC team within Distil, working both on our Global Cloud and working with customers to deploy, configure and tune our software stack in their Data-Centres. We have helped thousands of customers stop malicious traffic, protecting their websites, APIs & mobile apps from automated threats and Application DDoS attacks. In addition, I also work with the Distil Engineering team, using tools such as terraform and chef to build out the underlying AWS infrastructure for new products and services. I personally love working in a Dev Ops environment and I really enjoy solving technical challenges. I'm passionate about helping our customers resolve technical problems and take great pride in being able to contribute to the success of Distil. I strongly believe in the value of Dev Ops and was instrumental in bringing this culture to Seatwave (previous role), enabling us to work as a more collaborative and focused team. During my time at Seatwave I have helped solve many challenges, such as a successful transatlantic data centre move, as well as upgrading infrastructure for key events. I have a wide remit taking in our Data Centre Operations as well as infrastructure on the AWS & Azure cloud platforms. In a job where I am responsible for many different areas, learning is critical to long-term success. I am constantly building on my knowledge and bringing the latest developments to my colleagues, I am a member of several user groups, including being an active participant in the London Web Performance Meetup and London WebPerfDays groups.
