Cloudflare

Software Engineer

Jun 2022Jun 2025 · 3 yrs · Austin, TX · Hybrid

  • Built critical SSL/TLS & PKI infrastructure that manages almost 100M certificates for 20% of the web.
  • Integrated SSL.com as Cloudflare’s first new certificate authority (CA) in over 3 years, which has since been used to issue 92M+ certificates, and which significantly reduced catastrophic Internet-scale outage risk.
  • Executed large-scale CA migrations for 10s of millions of domains, materially changing the top global CA market share rankings while maintaining zero customer downtime.
  • Eliminated 4.5B ms of daily compute overhead by reducing execution time of the company’s worst-performing database query (in production for years) from 55 ms to <1 ms on a workload executed 100M+ times daily.
  • Designed and shipped the #1 most customer-requested SSL/TLS feature, enabling customers with external authoritative DNS providers to fully delegate Domain Control Validation (DCV) to Cloudflare, preventing certificate issuance failures and outages; the system manages 100s of thousands of pending validation tokens.
  • Owned and delivered many high-impact projects end-to-end, resulting in 7 public Cloudflare blog posts (linked below), and presented my technical work to 1000s of employees at a company-wide meeting.
  • Regularly worked with Go, PostgreSQL, Redis, Grafana, Prometheus, Jaeger Tracing, Kibana, and Kubernetes.
