• I build, maintain, document and do extended customer support for Visual Studio App Center micro services, most notably the Distribution services. I look for and execute on initiatives to make our customers 10x more efficient at app development, and my organization 10x more efficient at the development we do for our customers. My high performance team is part of a globally distributed remote-first organization which takes growth mindset seriously through learning, experiments and reflection. We focus on a single one to two week feature which we get right, complete and into production before moving on. We always pair up for productivity and knowledge sharing. We use Mac, Windows and Linux to develop Node, Ruby and .NET Core microservices which run on Azure.

Our Node, Ruby and .NET Core services run in Azure and are meant to help our customers develop Android and iOS applications at maximum efficiency.

• In the Dynamics Business Central Server Runtime team I focused on the performance, telemetry and security of the server product in the Azure cloud. I made the telemetry subsystem GDPR compliant and developer friendly and with my team created dashboards for monitoring the use and stability of our service. Before that I owned the PowerShell API and added to the AL language API, the handling of media files, did performance analysis and tuning, and too many bug fixes in all areas my team owned across the platform.
• I enjoy scripting to save my colleagues and myself time in the future, documenting my design decisions and code, presenting to the organization and using data to drive focus.

• In the Server Backend team of the Dynamics NAV product I designed and maintained the platform on top of which the business logic for this ERP product runs. This involved everything the NAV clients and application depend on, such as the SQL data stack and caching, the C/AL language API, handling of permissions, media, reports, tenant management, integration with other products. It was mostly C# work, but we touched the C/AL code in the NAV application as well and I specifically did a lot of PowerShell scripting.
• In this team I was part of the move of Dynamics NAV from being an on premise product to a SaaS offering hosted by Microsoft. This involved moving away from having a one tenant per database setup to having thousands of tenants in the same database, requiring SQL and tenant management API work.

• In the Dynamics NAV Infrastructure team I programmed and maintained the tools and machines that build and test the Dynamics NAV product, and the development environment shell used on developers their machines.
• In this first role I quickly learned to be a productive professional working in a team on a large product with a lot of history.

• I graded assignments for and gave feedback to students of the masters course Software Testing.
• I took the course myself one year before and did quite well. This is because I understand that testing software well is important, meaning I was very motivated to learn as much as possible. The course covered not only techniques of testing including black box and white box testing, but also theory about the reasons for doing tests, test planning, reporting, measuring efficiency of tests, when to stop testing and more.

• I ran a company together with two other people. We developed software and interactive websites for small businesses. I handled the paperwork, communication and financial administration for the company as well.

• I taught English or Dutch to children age 6-11 in groups of up to ten kids or one on one. I mostly worked with children who needed to (quickly) be prepared for life abroad because of a relocation. The other way around when families moved to the Netherlands, I helped kids become familiar with the Dutch language.
