Most data problems are not analysis problems. They are pipeline problems, definition problems, and trust problems. I build the systems that make metrics reliable. Before I worked in data, I spent several years inside the publishing industry as a proofreader, copy editor, and editorial assistant. That work trained something that has stayed with me: an obsession with accuracy, consistency, and what happens when a single error propagates through a system. Turns out those instincts translate directly into data engineering. The shift into data was gradual. I started by tracking KPIs and building reporting at a national newspaper, then moved through editorial production roles before eventually landing at Meltwater, where I spent two years delivering end-to-end research for industry reports downloaded 400+ times per quarter. Over time I became less interested in reporting the numbers and more interested in how those numbers are produced in the first place. These days I spend my time writing Python pipelines, designing KPI logic, deploying automated workflows on GCP, and making sure the metrics we ship actually mean what they are supposed to mean. I have built production ETL pipelines on GCP, designed dbt model layers from staging through to marts, and shipped Looker dashboards used by real stakeholders making real decisions.
