I've lived in Amsterdam for over a decade, and for the past four years I've worked at the intersection of urban mobility, education, and communication: connecting knowledge, practitioners, and ideas across different contexts. Through the Urban Cycling Institute, I design capacity-building programmes for practitioners across the sector, and tailored study visits for delegations from municipalities and regions, both grounded in fieldwork and direct access to the people shaping urban mobility (in the Netherlands, but also in Paris and Barcelona). → Reach Spanish-speaking cities and practitioners. I write for Ciclosfera, the leading urban cycling magazine in Spanish, and have built a network of planners, journalists, and decision-makers across Spain and Latin America. Sustainable mobility isn't only about offering better alternatives, it's also about gradually adjusting how comfortable it is to depend on a private car. And honestly, that’s the part nobody wants to say out loud. Parking is one of the most powerful, and least researched, levers on that side of the equation. My master's thesis at VU Amsterdam analyses how residential parking policies actually affect car ownership. Done well, with a long-term view, it can move the needle on modal share.
