Soumay Chugh — Software Engineer
I'm a software engineer who kept asking the wrong questions for my job title. Not "how do we build this?" But "should we build this at all? For whom? Why now?" That's what pulled me toward product. I have an engineering foundation — Python, MERN stack, cloud infrastructure. I've shipped real things under real constraints. I know what it costs to build something, which means I don't waste engineers' time on problems that don't exist. Now I'm a NextLeap PM Fellow, doing the actual work — user research, problem sizing, metrics, and a lot of talking to users before touching a solution. I think clearly under ambiguity. I ask uncomfortable questions early so they don't become expensive questions later. And I write — which means my thinking is visible, not just assumed. Looking for my first PM role at a team that wants someone who'll learn fast, work hard, and never stop asking why.
