Renelle (Adwoa) T. — Business Development Manager
I work in market access and health economics, which is a polite way of saying I am making sure lifesaving medicines actually reach the people who need them. Right now, I lead haematology, and rare diseases access strategies, where I’ve lead multiple NICE and SMC health technology submissions and and helped secure reimbursement across the UK and Europe. The result? Hundreds of thousands of patients now have access to therapies that previously weren’t available to them. That’s the part of my work that makes the long days worth it. Over the last 15 years, I’ve worked across oncology (solid tumor&hematology), rare diseases, immunology, neurology, cardiology, diabetes, respiratory, and dermatology. I’ve shaped global cell gene therapy cost effectiveness model launches, adapted health economic models and generated real world evidence for dozens of markets, and sat across the table from NICE and SMC to debate the finer points of health technology appraisals. Somewhere in there, I managed to deliver an MBA, a Master’s in Health Economics, and co-author publications in respiratory disease burden and caregiver's reported outcome in heamatology. Beyond the technical side, I chaired J&J’s African Ancestry Leadership Council Employee Resource Group for the EMEA region, and I’ve built mentoring programmes for early career employees across 10 countries that have already seen people promoted or stepping into leadership roles. I’ve been honored with a DE&I Global Award for enabling a pipeline of diverse leaders and a One We Reach (formerly Women in Pharma Leadership) scholarship, which makes me proud not just of the work I do, but of the people I get to support along the way. Outside of pharma, I volunteer with the Alzheimer’s Society as a caregiver advisor, shaping respite programmes for families. I believe leadership is about lifting others up, keeping a sense of humour even in serious rooms, and never losing sight of why this work matters: patients and their families. If you’d like to connect, share ideas, or just swap stories about the strange world of HTA, feel free to drop me a message, I’d love to hear from you.
